Third Coffee Talk: Tuesday, May 30th, 2017, 8AM EST

WWWLC is a city-wide effort to source and spread imaginations of the future that are unevenly distributed. That poses an interesting question:

How do we spread that imagination?

We’re still figuring that part out, but one thing we’ve been doing so far is holding morning meetings over coffee to brainstorm ideas, connect, and get/give feedback.

The morning coffee talks are meant to be a regularly scheduled time for people who are interested to get connected with people already involved. There have been two coffee talks so far and the third is scheduled for:

Mariposa Bakery

424 Massachusetts Ave, Cambridge, MA 02139

When: Tuesday, May 30th, 2017, 8:00 – 9:00 AM EDT

Neighborhood Storytelling and Book Making

Inspired by the Neighborhood Story Project and Story Loft, this project will bring groups of neighbors together to listen to each other’s stories and then create a physical record documenting those stories for the participants.

What will it look like?

On Saturday, a group of neighbors will gather together to hang out, hear, and record each other’s life stories. Using Pop Up Archive, the stories will be automatically transcribed into text. Then, each participant will get to add photos and other visual elements to their story and have the stories combined into a simple chapbook or maybe even a real book (using something like Blurb). Depending on how much energy participants have… maybe it’ll even be up for purchase/sale (at cost).

Are you interested in participating?

If you’d like to organize one of these events for a group of your neighbors, email Lawrence Barriner II at lqb@alum.mit.edu and he’ll help you get it all figured out.

Are you interested in supporting this vision?

Lawrence, the leader of this team, is looking for people to help spread the word about this project to other neighborhoods. If you’re interested in that, reach out to Lawrence Barriner II at lqb@alum.mit.edu or give him a call at 850.443.5020!

Do you have your own idea on how to make your block, neighborhood, community, city, environment, or globe better?  Find out more here about how to host your own team.

Announcing the first coffee talk: Friday, April 14th, 2017, 8:30 AM EDT

WWWLC is a city-wide effort to source and spread imaginations of the future that are unevenly distributed. That poses an interesting question:

How do we spread that imagination?

We’re thinking that meetings over coffee are the easiest way to meet similar minded people who live your neighborhood – people who can help you brainstorm new ideas, create new teams and start planning a WWWLC event. Attend future The World We Want: Living the Change coffee talks on a monthly basis to brainstorm ideas with other teams, connect your vision with the vision of others, and get feedback.

The morning coffee talks are meant to be a regularly scheduled time for people who are interested to get connected with people already involved. The first coffee talk is scheduled for:

Andala Coffee House

286 Franklin St, Cambridge, MA 02139

Time: Friday, April 14th, 2017, 8:30 AM EDT

While the first talk is scheduled for Central Square, the coffee talks might gain additional purposes and maybe they can be replicated in the evenings and also in different places around town since most people probably can’t get to Central Square before work during the work week.
